Moving Portraits

Today we tried drawing people who were moving. We moved several children into position and looked carefully at their bodies. Then we chose drawings to copy so that we could see how arms and legs join onto our bodies. It was hard work but the results were brilliant. Next week we will draw our own moving portraits.

Gabby emails her homework

Every week there is an optional extra for experts activity for homework. This week the challenge was to make a sun safe poster. Gabby designed one on her computer and emailed it to Room 9. You are an expert Gabby!

Off to the Flower Show they go

Just look at our sand saucers. They look stunning and we wanted to share them with you. It's a shame that you can't smell them. I wonder why some flowers have a beautiful scent and some don't.

Flower Show sand saucers on the way

We all brought flowers and containers to make our sand saucers. We sat happily outside under the trees and made wonderful designs. Gene felt so proud of his sand saucer.

Caught being a super star

Imaginary birds take shape

After sketching our birds we chose bright colours to make them come alive. Your bird is looking great Erin. What colour will you choose for the background?

Now let's paint birds

After all the discussion on feathers, we decided to draw and paint our own birds. We thought it would be fun to draw imaginary birds. First we made practice sketches and then we drew our birds with chalk.

Mmm I wonder

Jacob is a great investigator. He wants to know what bird the feather comes from and what type of feather it is.

And still more feathers

Today Jessica spent time naming her feathers. She has made a feather collection and is now learning the different types of feathers. Can you remember the names we learnt with Mrs Stedman today?

Feathers in the Allen Centre

There is always something wonderful happening in the Allen Centre. This year we are especially interested in feathers. Mrs Stedman shared her collection with us today. If we find an interesting feather we can bring it along and discover what sort of bird it is.

Now we are really smiling

We decided to have a second class photo to show that we really could smile. Well done everyone!
