A lunchtime practice

At lunch time Outram Green had touch practice and it was hot.We learnt a couple of skills and we rolled the ball and passed the ball to the next person.

Fact Files from the Koalas reading group

Today the Koalas worked independently reading about Outram and then completing a fact file to share with the class. We were really interested in their information. Did you know there used to be a train running to Outram? Did you know that Outram was the first town with electric lights?

A medal for Liam

I got a medal at the Mosgiel Triathlon. My team won a medal. Finn, Liam B and I were in a team. I felt happy.

Another happy, happy session in the Allen Centre

A highlight for Room 9 every week is visiting the Allen Centre. This week books were carefully chosen and then issued by Gabby who is training to be a class librarian. Laura enjoyed reading a Sunshine book online and we all enjoyed sharing our new books with each other. We love reading in Room 9.

Nim Nim

On Friday while the Year 4 children sat their first PAT test, the Year 3 children learnt some new maths games. We had a Nim Nim challenge. There was great concentration throughout the room. Have you tried the game at home yet?

Room 9 we shine all the time assembly item

First of all we shared our moving people pictures. We had copied cartoons to see how bodies move. Then we used crayon and dye to draw ourselves moving. After this each child shared the light that they bring to Room 9 such as their music skills, their kindness or their ability to run fast. Each child took a candle to be lit so that it shone on our Room 9 poster. Finally we sang two songs especially written for this assembly. Well done everyone. You were great!

A visit to the dentist

I went to the dentist and I had to wait 5 minutes before they came to get me. They looked in my mouth and said "we need to pull those 2 teeth out!" They pulled them out at the same time and it hurt. The Tooth Fairy gave me $4 and some toothpaste.

We love having a game of railway tracks

Today we had our first game of railway tracks. We quickly learnt the technique and away we raced one team competing against another. The speed was impressive showing me that we have some very fast runners in Room 9.

Gosh that looks interesting

Mrs Stedman gave me a crystal and it was purple. When  I got it I was very happy. The chore I needed to do was sand a tool box. When I get it done I will be very proud of myself.

The Flower Show

The Flower Show was held today and our paintings hung proudly on the walls. Soon they will be hanging in Room 9 so do come and have a look.

Back to the Allen Centre we go

Today we had our first session in the Allen Centre for the year. Mrs Stedman shared some wonderful books with us and these books were quickly snapped up for home reading.

We made posters for Room 9 to look at Co-Operation and teamwork. My poster said about the All Blacks using Co-Operation and Teamwork to win the Rugby World Cup. My poster said, Year 3 and 4's share the chores. Also in Room 9 we can work together and shine brightly.

Time to use our passwords for Mathletics

Today there was great excitement as we signed into Mathletics. Mrs Patterson showed us all the  exciting activities on the Mathletics site.

Ukelele Club began today

A special ukelele club has started in the Allen Centre. Today they learnt their first chords and sang enthusiastically while being photographed. When will you perform for Room 9 girls?

Look what I saw before school!

 

I went out for a stroll to the stone playground and found Stella and Briar having fun on the play equipment. I asked what they could do on the bars. They did some cool tricks. Stella did a flip same with Briar.  It WAS fun!

Sketching Club has started again

The Allen Centre was a busy, busy place at lunchtime. All over the floors and tables children sketched and worked at their pictures. Every Wednesday is Sketching Club day and it is fun!

Back into the pool again

Everyone was working hard in the pool today. Group 3 was practicing their kicking while Group 1 and 2 were working hard at their breathing technique. It is so important that we learn to swim and keep safe in water.

Dear Room 9

Our homework task for Week 1 was to write a letter to the class introducing ourselves. Liam loves sport and he shared with us all the sporting activites that he enjoys.

Flower Show Art

We have been busy preparing our paintings for the Flower Show. We started by mixing beautiful dyes. Next we practiced sketching flowers first with pencil and then using a vivid pen to outline them. Finally we added flowers to our dyed sheets. The results are stunning. Why not come to the Flower Show to see them!
