A new flag for you
Anita was the first to name our last flag. I wonder who will be the first to name this flag. You might be able to tell us something about this country. See you on Monday!

The Taieri long ago
We have made a model of the Taieri Plains 100 hundred years ago. There was a lot of discussion about what we could include in our model. All the motor boats had to go home! Every day for the last two weeks new additions have arrived from home. Gabby made a horse and wagon out of lego. We even had an old fashioned train running around the track from Outram to Mosgiel.

A beautiful performance in the Allen Centre
We were very pleased to go into the Allen Centre to watch the junior girls, along with our very own Hannah, present a story through dance and music. It was a beautiful production, in fact we loved it so much that we were allowed to see it twice. A big thank you to all the organisers and to the talented dancers.
The Room 9 Little Theatre
The Penguins reading group presented the first play for the year in the Room 9 Little Theatre. We saw some great acting and the performance was followed by some tricky questions for the audience. Well done girls.
We are learning to recite our mihi
We have been learning to recite our mihi and the best way to learn it is to practice saying it in front of an audience. We worked in small groups and helped each other. Already 14 children have presented their mihi to the class.

The Taieri long ago
We are going to make a model of the Taieri a hundred years ago. Today we used nets to make our houses. Watch as our model grows. Mmm ... probably no cars so how did they get to Mosgiel, Momona or Berwick?
Sharing with Room 9
We were so pleased to read Kyla's postcard today. She posted it to us while she was in Takaka. What a beautiful part of New Zealand. Aynsley's Dad has arrived back from Nauru and today Aynsley shared beautiful material, beads, hair decorations and other gifts that had come from Nauru.
Dress Up Day
Today was a dress up as an animal day. We all brought along a gold coin to raise funds for our Enviro Group. It was such a lot of fun having all these animals at school today!

Patter tennis
Between showers we were able to have a session with the patter tennis bats. It was hard work but by the end we were starting to have success. We were pleased to listen to Isaac as he shared his helpful hints.

Captain's Table - what a fun game!
We learnt a great new game with our Big Buddies on Friday - Captain's Table. It was a very fast moving game and we had to concentrate. Afterwards the Year 8 children chose some super players from Room 9. Well done everyone!
Extra for Experts
The challenge for this week was to open a box at home and carefully copy the net. The next step was to make a copy of the outside of the box and glue it back together if possible. It was quite a challenge but these clever children succeeded.
