Dan and Ethan share with Room 9
Look what Dan made out of recycled materials. Brilliant Dan. We have had a number of tricky puzzles in Room 9 and this week look at the puzzle that Ethan brought in to share. Have you tried it yet?

Some great designs for bird feeders!
Everyone made their own bird feeder and everyone succeeded. It was lovely to see the way that the children shared their materials and also the way that they encouraged each other. Well done everyone!
Assessing our bird feeders
The next challenge was to assess our own bird feeders and then to give feedback to each other. We wrote down what we liked about the bird feeders and then we included new ideas for each other.
Technology challenge to build a bird feeder
Sustainability has been our theme for this term and to finish our study on endangered birds we decided to make bird feeders. We planned and discussed and planned again and today was the making day. It was hard work but we all achieved success.

What a great disco!
Brilliant lights lit the hall and huge balls hung from the ceiling as we gathered for the Junior Disco. Everyone wore brilliant costumes and danced for the entire disco. Pyper was voted the best girl dancer and we all cheered loudly for her. What a great disco!

Listening to each other's memorised poems
On Friday, Room 9 and Room 10 will gather to listen to speeches and poems. Five speeches and 5 poems will be chosen to be presented at the Outram School Speech night next week. Remember to use expression and remember to project your voice children.
Taking action!
We have been investigating endangered creatures in New Zealand and we wondered what we could do to help. Next week we will have a technology session and make bird feeders to help the local birds during winter. Today Dan arrived with this brilliant bird feeder and Tayla arrived with several designs for a bird feeder.

Endangered creatures
The last two groups presented their projects to the class today. They had plenty of new information to share and they were easily able to answer our questions. Now we have to think about how we can help our endangered creatures. Have you got any ideas?

Great reading
The Allen Centre has great books. Today the children returned with arms full of books to take home to enjoy or to keep at school for silent reading.
Gosh look what we found!
We found a stick insect and it was amazing. It was long and it had spikes on its body. I thought it was cool.

A glorious day at Orokonui
The weather was perfect for our Orokonui trip today. We were greeted and welcomed by Tahu, Nathan, Alistair and Max. We divided into two groups and passed through the predator proof fence and into the ecosanctuary. It was thrilling to watch tui, bellbird and kaka feeding. We watched takahe walking calmly nearby and spotted skinks basking in the sun. Nathan showed us how they trap predators. What a wonderful day we had!
