A Very Important Visitor

Today we had a visit from Mr Ryan Shortland. Mr Shortland has played rugby league for the Warriors! He taught us some great games to play. These were Island Tag and Dodgeball. We really enjoyed our session with him and played very well together. We showed great co-operation and teamwork!

Moles in the holes in Norwich

Greetings Room 9
Well now I am staying in the country near Norwich. When we woke up this morning we could see mounds of dirt all over the lawn. There were over 30 of them. We found out that they are made by moles living under the ground. When they dig their tunnels they push all the spare soil out of the tunnel and above ground. It looked very strange. On Sunday we are going on a very long car drive up to Scotland to a place called Oban. We will then get on a boat and sail to a small island called Iona. I think it will be very cold but perhaps not as cold as winter in Outram. Can you find Norwich, Oban and Iona on a map?
I was sorry to hear that Tyler has left. We will miss her. Hope you are all keeping warm.

A Sad Day For Room 9

We are very sad to announce that we have lost a great classmate from Room 9. Tyler Philpott, who has been at Outram School for the last four months is moving back to Concord School to start her next learning adventure. We sang a special goodbye song for Tyler on her last day. We will all miss her very much!

Wacky Hairday Madness!

We certainly wondered this morning whether some of the children had well and truly got out of the wrong side of the bed! We had lots of amazing wacky hair creations in Room 9, from tinsel and butterflies to coloured hair and spikes! Well done children!

Cross Country Magic

We held our school cross country yesterday, in great conditions. All the children were very nervous and excited! They all ran extremely well and should be very very proud of themselves. We have 9 children from Room 9 going on to run at the Taieri Beach cross country next week. Well done to all our fabulous Room 9 children!

Dear Room 9
Can you guess where we are? Yes we are in London. Yesterday we traveled by the very fast train to Paris and then to Lille. We then got on a much slower train to Calais. It was very exciting getting on the boat to cross the English Channel. It reminded me of the inter island ferry in NZ. Finally we saw the white cliffs of Dover. I left England when I was ten years old and this was the first time I had been back. London is HUGE. Can you find out how many people live there?
Interesting facts - 1.In Germany children start school at 7.30am and finish at 12.30pm. When they are 8 or 9 they also have two or three afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
2. It is very hot here. I hope it is not too cold in Outram for you.
3. All over Europe the farm animals often live in huge barns and never go outside!
