Today was Lily's day at assembly!!

WOW!! Lily was given the Room 9 Challenge award for Original and Independent thinking then she had to go back on stage.
Lily won a $50 book voucher for earning the most money in the school Little Einstein quiz, over $200. Lily also won another $50 book voucher for having the most sponsors - 29!! She also got a certificate for getting all 55 questions correct in the quiz. Well done Lily, you are a Room 9 shining star!!

Weather presenter for the day

This term we are looking closely at the weather. Every morning someone is chosen to explain the weather map from the newspaper. Today was Lily's turn.Plenty of rain for us and not very warm. Lily told us about Madrid which had 30 degrees today.

Long and short vowels bingo games

We are working hard to learn the difference between the long and short vowels. This will help with our reading and writing. How many /long a/ vowels patterns can we think of?

The Key Competencies

This term we are focusing on the Key Competency of participating and contributing. First we talked about Gregory Smith the remarkable boy who has made a significant contribution to helping children in need around the world. Next we talked about brilliant Bridgette who is setting up a book swap initiative based on the Lilliput Libraries. The book swap will be open Thursday and Friday. What a great contribution Bridgette! We then talked about the wonderful contribution our parents make to Outram School. We are very excited that the new recipe book will be launched on Sunday. Then we talked about Aleisha Cotton and Kelsey Hoggard and the wonderful contribution they made to some schools in Samoa. We looked at examples around Outram School where we have seen children participating and contributing. This week we looked at the contribution that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is making.
