Making healthy connections boardgame

We all formed groups and played a healthy connections board game. It was a good activity to have at the end of our unit on connections in our bodies.

The Room 9 Little Theatre was busy again today

After reading today the Koalas group presented a play to the class. They used great expression and actions. After the performance they had prepared questions for us. Well done girls.

An end of the term treat from Kylie

Kylie and her very kind Mum made a delicious chocolate cake to share with the class. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Robot Adventures

Today Jade, Miciah and Zack brought in their robot creations to share with us. They were brilliant. Ben, Dylan and Ezra also belong to this lunch time club. We are looking forward to seeing what you will make.

Look at our fresh vegetables!

We took huge bags of vegetables home. We planted these vegetables, looked after them and now we have harvested them. Yum they will taste good.

A trip to find connections

We set off on a sparkling bright morning heading for Dunedin. First stop was the Anatomy Museum where Mr Smith took us on a fascinating tour and showed us many body connections. Next stop was Discovery World where we found connections all over the place. Finally we had lunch at the park in Mosgiel where we used our bodies to climb, run and swing. What a fun day!

Making connections at lunch time

It was a beautiful autumn day today. During lunch time Amity and Henry made tunnels that connected in the sand pit. Byron and Cameron were also digging. Out on the field Dylan and Ben looked like the All Blacks working on their ball skills.

Keziah's Taieri song

Our Extra for Experts challenge on Friday was to make up a song about the Taieri. We listened to some great songs. Why not try singing Keziah's song to the tune of "Twinkle, twinkle little star."

Room 9 remarkable recorder players

We have begun our weekly recorder lessons and already have learnt three songs. This afternoon William and Liam impressed us with their solo playing. Well done boys.

Well connected!

We have all found facts about parts of the body and we have connected them to make jigsaw puzzles. They are terrific. Next step is to share our facts with each other.

Making connections yet again

Today we were ready to put our jigsaw puzzles together. We had to find all the pieces to make the puzzle and it took a long time.

Jump Jam when it's cold

When the days are cold we happily go into the hall for Jump Jam fitness instead of our usual routine on the courts. It is hard work but we always come out feeling much warmer!

Warm in the Allen Centre

We were a smaller class today with autumn colds and sneezes and it was a very chilly day. However the Allen Centre was warm and welcoming as usual. One of our favourite Allen Centre activities is sharing our new books with the class. It is always good to hear what our friends are reading.

Autumn descriptions

Today we wrote chain sentences about autumn leaves. We built lists of adjectives, verbs and adverbs and then used these words to write brilliant sentence about autumn leaves. We all shared our favourite sentence with the class. Soon you will be able to come in and read them.

Dear Sad Sid

We have made up two characters during our connections work. Healthy Harry knows all about leading a healthy life. Sad Sid goes to bed late, only eats treat food and spends hours watching TV and playing computer games. He is often tired, grumpy and off task at school. We decided to write to Sad Sid and tell him how to lead a healthy life. Come in and read our letters.

Group research

We have been working in groups to find out about different parts of the body. When we had found our facts we published them on strange shapes. I wonder if you can guess what we are going to do with them next. It might have something to do with connections!

Skeleton art

We have been looking at the connections in our bodies. We decided to do pastel drawings of our skeletons. We have been learning the proper names for the bones. Why not ask us to share the names with you.

Player of the day

Kylie was player of the day with her team in the weekend. She brought along her trophy to show us. What a champion. She has also lost two teeth!

Another flag challenge

Here is a new flag for you to investigate. Who will be the first to discover which country has this flag? What can you find out about this country?

We love Garden Club!

Yesterday more vegetables were harvested from our garden. We washed, peeled, cut, grated and sliced vegetables and sat down to hot potato, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, capsicum and tomato. Yum!
