Away we go!

We were all pleased to see Finn and Meg chosen to receive the Middle Syndicate Challenge cup and we were all very, very pleased to race into the holidays. Happy Christmas everyone!

The last week

The last week of school raced by. We all took part in the Amazing Race at Waihola and it was terrific. A huge crowd came for the day. We also watched the senior girls perform an Indian dance in the Allen Centre. Then the School Council organised a sports afternoon for us with good old fashioned races.

Painting our pottery

We had a great session in the workshop today with Mrs Simpson painting our pots. The paint was really easy to apply and the colours were brilliant. Now we need to carefully wrap our gifts.

Letters from our pen pals

There was great excitement in Room 9 today as we read our new letters from our pen  pals. We were interested that they have also had a school camp. We are really glad that we have met our pen pals.

Our Class Christmas Tree

There was great industry in Room 9 this morning. We made as many cut out hands as possible and then assembled this wonderful tree. After adding the lights and tinsel we all gathered around the tree to sing Christmas carols.

Hooray we are swimming again!

We are so lucky at Outram School to have our own pool. This week we have started swimming lessons again and although it has been chilly, our pool is warm and covered.

Community Christmas Service

This evening the Outram School Choir sang some beautiful carols at the Community Christmas Service. The church was packed and some of us had to sit on the floor. We loved Evie and Joe singing and Fynn read the lesson with skill. The choir made us proud to be part of Outram School. Well done everyone and thank you Mrs Ward.

Mmm now that looks really interesting!

Today we looked closely at each other's Christmas gifts. Firstly we wrote down all the points that we admired about the gift. We then wrote down some new ideas about this gift. There was a lot of thinking in Room 9.

Oh what a technology day!

We had a wonderful technology day today. We had to make a Christmas gift from recycled materials for an adult and it had to be of gold quality. We planned carefully and today we all worked really hard with lots of problem solving until our gifts were finished. What a fun day we had.

Last session of Bible in Schools for the year

Room 9 enjoyed a beautiful chocolate cake at Bible in Schools today. What a treat and that was not all! Every child received a bag full of Christmas goodies. Gosh thank you Mrs Nicholl!

A new ukelele chord and a new song

Today we were using Dm in "Michael Row the boat ashore." We know our chords well and it sounds really good. What a great way to finish the day. I wonder what our next song will be.

Busy with clay

Today we had a session in the Workshop learning how to handle clay. We made a tiny pinch pot and then we were able to make a bowl. Clay is tricky to work with and we had to be careful not to handle it too much.
