We are proud of Mary

Today we had our final assembly for 2013. Mary received an award for always demonstrating the values of our school challenges. We were all proud of Mary.

What a wonderful picnic!

The Middle Syndicate set off to Woodside Glen in the rain yet miraculously not another drop fell while we were there. We played in the river and walked along bush tracks. We played cricket, rugby, rob the nest and had races such as the three legged race. Some children made wonderful Borrower's houses in the bush. What a wonderful picnic!

Thank you, thank you Room 9 - Oh So Fine!  We loved our Christmas cards and your wonderful letters. We had a very happy time reading and sharing your letters. Happy Christmas penpals!

Outram Volunteer Fire Brigade come visiting

The Outram Volunteer Fire Brigade came visiting with a series of challenges for the Year 8 students. We were all allowed to watch as they competed for the best team. A team of teachers even took part.

Back into the Workshop

Today we had to be very careful with the paintwork on our decorations. We concentrated hard and were pleased with the results.

What a beautiful performance

We were thrilled to watch the ballet group present their performance in the Allen Centre.  Edith, Lucia and Bridgette danced beautifully and we felt very proud of them. We loved the performance so much that we were allowed to watch it twice!

We wish you a merry Christmas

We have made our very own Christmas tree using our hand prints. If you look very carefully, you will see that the tree is made of many, many hands coloured in various shades of green.

Busy in the Workshop

It was our turn in the Workshop today. We were very busy preparing for Christmas. There was plenty of rolling and shape making. Mmm I wonder what we are making?

Oh what a lot to catch up on!

On Monday morning we love to have a chat to catch up with our weekend activities. It also helps with our writing as we ask questions and explain events carefully to each other.

Building together

On Friday we built a stick cave for Croc.  Sometimes we got angry with each other's decisions but we got it sorted out in the end. We were really pleased with it.

A great story

Today Jacob brought along a great book to read to the class. It was all about Father Christmas and the dinosaurs he used to use. Andrew, our dinosaur expert, helped Jacob pronounce the dinosaur names.

Mixing vinegar and baking soda

We continued making mixtures today when we combined vinegar and baking soda. First we made predictions. Then carefully we poured the vinegar on to the baking soda. Oh gosh! What a reaction. Our mixture made carbonic acid which quickly changed into carbon dioxide and water.

New Zealand Knowledge Quiz

There was a keenly contested quiz in Room 9 this morning. Our Extra for Experts activity was to bring New Zealand knowledge questions to school. Each quiz master asked the questions to a team of four who were armed with chime bars. It was a very close battle but in the end Seth was the winner.

Hooray we're swimming again!

Today we were back in the swimming pool again. We were very pleased to watch Hunter share his swimming skills. Mr Marshall and Mrs Temoko also came to watch. Then we worked hard at our swimming technique. We need to be safe in the water this summer.

The Polar Bears reading group perform at the Room 9 Little Theatre

There was a fine performance of 'The Billy Goats Gruff' today by the Polar Bears reading group. Noah and Regan were assisted by Ted and Mrs Wright. There were some tricky questions at the end. Well done boys.
