Gosh you can eat cress!

We have grown cress in our Little Garden set. We also grew cress and mustard at the same time. On Friday we harvested the mustard and cress and made teeny tiny mustard and cress sandwiches. At first only a few brave children tried them but in next to no time nearly 30 children had tried one and were eager for seconds. It's great growing our own food!

Grand Slam

Every five weeks the children get ten minutes free time if they have completed their homework. Today there was a large group. Will and Ollie played charades while Hannah taught a group how to draw 3D letters. Tyler shared his rocks with Aidan while Hadley studied the germinating seeds. Kurt, Levi, Oscar and Rakai were busy sketching and Denley and Claudia were writing comments on the class blog. The rest of the class were persevering with their printing.

Our seeds have had a little holiday

It is important to take special care of brand new seedlings so this weekend they came with me to Invercargill. They enjoyed seeing the sights in Clinton and Gore and they loved spending time with some great daffodil role models in Invercargill.

Today two classes squashed into Room 9 for a Nim Nim Championship. Working in pairs the children played ten games and then we began on the semi-finals. We have received our Little Garden kit

Everything is growing in Room 9. Today we received out Little Garden kit and we had a busy time planting the 24 vegetable seedlings. In one of the pots there are cress seeds and our very own cress seeds have been amazing us. After two days they have all germinated and now we are waiting for the little shoots to appear.
