Today we made our own Anzac biscuits

Today everyone made their own Anzac biscuits. We followed the recipe measuring carefully. It was tricky trying to mix the ingredients in our little bowls but we managed and the biscuits were delicious.

Approaching Anzac Day

We arrived back from the holidays and immediately began to think about Anzac Day. Today Mrs Stedman helped us to explore and name the Gallipoli landscape. We then stood in silence around the display of crosses outside the Allen Centre. Angus and Briar shared some family war history with us and finally we made an Anzac wreath and listened to the Last Post.

Look what Liam brought along to share

Last year I went to Blenheim to see my  Uncle. He is in the Royal Air Force. He gave me this beret for ANZAC Day. They got new uniforms.

Studying Anzac images

Working in small groups we looked closely at images from World War 1. Today the photos showed the soldiers preparing to leave and then the final scenes of departure. Next we will study photos showing the soldiers landing at Gallipoli. What a lot we have learnt and what a lot of questions we keep asking!

Mini hurdles for fitness

This week we are using the mini hurdles for fitness. By the time we had used five different patterns there were a lot of pink flushed faces. Thank you Archie and Liam for setting out the equipment.

More tantalising toys from Laura

This is a light house with a real light. I was on and off with this project so it probably took me about from the middle of last term. The materials that I used was cardboard and toothpicks, string, peanut butter jar, paper rocks and last but not least the light was from my grandma's house. If you want to ask me questions, why not ask them in the comments box?

Kitchen chemistry with Lily

When I did my hockey pokey I was very, very, very good. We first put in 5 tablespoons of sugar. Then we put in golden syrup . Last we put in soda. I was very glad. When I showed it to the class I was happy.

A careful read of our "Moment in time" story

We have worked hard at our 'moment in time' holiday recounts and they are nearly finished. At the end of writing time today everyone carefully read through their story to check that it made sense. Soon we will be able to share each other's stories.

Laura has been busy with her science badge

This is another one of my tantalising toys. I have really enjoyed doing it and I might do another one. One of these projects is a game that two people can play with using magnets. The one after that is an aqua-scope to use to explore under water for the pool or bath or any thing like that.

Sharing our holiday news and sharing what we know about Anzac Day

There was a great buzz of chatter in Room 9 as we shared our holiday activities. We listened carefully to each other and asked questions to find out more details. Later in the morning we shared what we know about Anzac Day. It was surprising how much we already know!

Last day of the term

Today we made Easter baskets and by home time they were filled with Easter eggs. We also had a farewell lunch for Stellar who is shifting to Australia. The lunch was delicious but we are sad that you are going Stellar. Please remember to write to us. Finally we were all able to taste Hartley's hot cross buns. Delicious. Happy and safe holidays everyone!

What a clever birthday girl!

I stitched Elsa the bear together. Belinda gave it to me. I stuck the eyes and nose and paws on. She is a puppet. She is at my house with Arna the frog.

The last swim of the season

Today was the last swim of the season and what fun we had. First of all we presented Kerry our wonderful swimming coach with a gift to thank her for her superb teaching. Next we welcomed Liam back after having his tonsils out. Then each group demonstrated their best technique. Finally we made whirlpools, had noodle races and had time to dive through hoops and dive for objects. We are so lucky to have our own school pool.
