Hot air rises

When air warms up, it rises.  This is because air gets lighter as it gets warmer.  We each made a twirly-whirly and held it above heat. The rising hot air made the twirly-whirly twist and twirl showing us that hot air does rise.

I think it is pretty cool that you tested how hot air rises. I really liked it. How did you think of the topic Hot Air Rises? Why did you do it? Did the twirly-whirly thing get caught on fire?

Dear Ruby
We LOVED your comment. Welcome to our blog. What school do you come from? Is it in Dunedin? Hot air experiments are fun. None of our twirly-whirlies went on fire thank goodness. Mrs Wright would have got into BIG trouble if that happened! We are looking at why the weather happens and air is very important with the weather. What are you studying? How old are you?
