What a wonderful visit we had to the marae. After a wonderful welcome at the powhiri and a delicious morning tea, we divided into groups to learn Maori crafts and skills. First of all we each gave our mihi. What a good thing that we had all memorized it! We then moved around different activities - te rakau the sticks, taiaha the long club, poi, making a whistle and we learnt te reo. What a successful day!

When it was time to do the hongi I was nervous but when it was over It was ok .
The Marae trip was awesome. We all had a good time.I would like to go again.
That was fun. I like the flutes.
I really enjoyed saying my mihi.
But I wasn't so sure about doing the hongi.
